Atlanta’s infamous public school cheating scandal sent some educators to jail last year and forced the system to clean up its culture of pressure-driven testing. But after the educators were found guilty of changing tests answers and sentenced, thousands of innocent victims remained: school children.

Charter Schools: Paying For Charter Schools In The South
Florida has about 650 charter schools. They are part of school districts but are privately managed and largely free of many of the rules governing traditional public schools. But as enrollment in charters has increased, so has the financial cost. WFSU’s Lynn Hatter reports for the Southern Education Desk that Tennessee and Georgia are also struggling to find ways to support their charter schools.

APS To Start New Grade-Changing Regulations After Investigation

Atlanta Public Schools said it will strengthen its rules on changing students’ grades. This comes after a districtwide investigation, which was triggered when APS officials found administrators at some high schools inappropriately changing students’ failing grades to passing ones.
